Our Relationship Through Prayer with Our Heavenly Father

President Eyring…”When I was a little child, my parents taught me by example to pray. I began with a picture in my mind of Heavenly Father being far away. As I have matured, my experience with prayer has changed. The picture in my mind has become one of a Heavenly Father who is close by, who is bathed in a bright light, and who knows me perfectly.”

“It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God, and to know that we may converse with Him as one man converses with another.”  (Joseph Smith, Teachings, p.345)

4 Lesson/Activities
Come, Follow Me - For Individuals and Families

*We can remember there miraculous experiences when we face something that is impossible

What stories from your own lives could they share in which God did seemingly impossible things?
Link to pictures:
***Also in your prayers this week, make an extra effort to thank Heavenly Father for all your many impossible blessings

Lesson #2: Genealogy of Jesus
Matthew 1:1-17 - explain that it traces His royal lineage through Joseph back to King David.  IF ROME WAS NOT IN CHARGE, JOSEPH WOULD BE KING.  Read Jeremiah 23:5-6 - prophesied that the Messiah would come through the lineage of David

Lesson #4: God's blessings come in His own time
Go over the story of Elisabeth and Zacharias.  They wanted a kid their whole life and they were very righteous, but God needed John the Baptist to be born in His own time for His own purpose (to baptize Jesus Christ, he had to be the right age). Their story can be a reminder that God has not forgotten you.  How can we remain faithful while waiting for a blessing?

Activity #4:
(if possible watch "John the Baptist" Animated Stories from the New Testament)
Draw your own picture of John the Baptist baptizing Jesus Christ or color this
